The twisty maze in inner-sydney is possibly better now. There are bus lanes,
resident restricted parking and parking is expensive (but possibly not expensive
enough). The high cost of petrol seems to have had a positive effect on
private traffic and the demand for public transport.
However, to appreciate the challenge, "Sydney" now sprawls through the Blue
Mountains, past Gosford and Wollongong. There was/is a move for Inner City
consolidation - which has happened despite the NIMBYs but "Australians" seem to
need a "house and backyard".
But as public transport improves - value of office space goes up and
Companies relocate their workforces from CBDs to Industrial Parks, with "lots of
parking" and Land is opened up to provide new "affordable" housing.
