FF 2 was certainly slow and had poor memory handling. It would become
painful to keep more than a few tabs open, especially if some of them
had short-lifetime content embedded. At least you could kill it and it
would reopen your tabs and run smoothly for a while...

FF 3 is heaps better - faster and much better memory use. It has had a
few minor stability issues at startup which seem to be related to HTTPS.
FF 3 has adopted the horrible so-called security behaviour of IE and
shrieks about self-signed certificates and the like. At least you can
train it better than IE.

There are still interesting differences between FF on Windoze and Linux
platforms that sometimes surprise the user. I wouldn't go back, and I
wouldn't use IE.
