I've been black-banned to US entry due to a minor offense in Canada
back in 1970. Missed my plane and had to spend an extra $800.00
to get home from Vancouver. I've heard that Air Canada is
planning to (or already does) fly direct Syd -> Van since
they were losing too many passengers during the Honolulu stopover.
I have to pay over $300 US to attempt to clear my name and get removed
from the blacklist. The application may not be accepted. This is
extortion IMHO. I won't be paying and I won't be returning.
The SMH wrote me and others up in an article about the crackdown
back in Aug 2005. Molly Meldrum was refused entry since he had
a retinue of film crew in tow. The Aussie editor of some women's mag
was refused entry and missed her own wedding in North Carolina. etc.etc.
The Bush administration will be remembered, amongst other things, for
dumping the US constitution, engaging in illegal spying on its own
citizens and generally making that country the most reviled the world over.
cheers
