IMPORTANT DATES
---------------

Submission deadline: July 30, 2008
Notification of acceptance: September 3, 2008
Camera-ready version: September 30, 2008
Workshop: December 9, 2008

WORKSHOP BACKGROUND
-------------------

There is a growing interest in providing technology-mediated lifelong
learning services for ALL. Although an increasing number of the users
interested in these services are adult learners and people with
disabilities most available settings do not consider accessibility
requirements.

Towards User Modelling and Adaptive Systems for All (TUMAS-A 2008)
workshop is held in conjunction with the 2008 IEEE/WIC/ACM Joint
International Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent
Technology that takes place on December 9-12, 2008 at the University
Technology Sydney (Australia).

The workshop follows on from the previous TUMAS-A 2007 workshop held
in conjunction with the User Modelling 2007 conference. Current
edition focuses on the application of Web Intelligence and Intelligent
Agent Technology in eLearning to support the needs for all in the
lifelong learning paradigm.

The workshop will be an important part of events of the IEEE/WIC/ACM
International Conferences on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent
Technology which has been ranked at top 15 from 620 Artificial
Intelligence / Machine Learning conferences in Computer Science
Conference ranking.

WORKSHOP TOPICS
---------------

TUMAS-A 2008 workshop focuses on new research challenges and
initiatives in Web Intelligence (WI) and Intelligent Agent Technology
(IAT) to support the needs for all in the lifelong learning paradigm.
Suggested, but not limited to, workshop topics include:

    * Knowledge Community Formation and Support
    * Web Mining techniques in standard based inclusive learning settings
    * Semantics and Ontology Engineering for intelligent inclusive support
    * Intelligent Web Agents for inclusive personalization
    * Web Services for interoperability with open standard based
      learning management systems
    * Web Information Filtering and Retrieval in inclusive learning
      scenarios
    * Intelligent Human-Web Interaction: adaptation, usability and
      accessibility issues
    * Personalized Interfaces
    * Recommender systems
    * Agent-Based Distributed Data Mining, Knowledge Discovery and Sharing
    * Learning and Self-Adaptation in Multi-Agent Systems
    * Learning User Profiles
    * Social and Psychological Issues

WORKSHOP FORMAT
---------------

The workshop is organized as a full-day workshop that combines
traditional paper presentations in the morning with interactive
discussion following the Learning Caf methodology in the afternoon.

Paper authors are asked to provide a 5-minute presentation where they
highlight the open topics from those addressed in the workshop from
their experience and research. These key issues will serve as the
starting point for the Learning Cafe discussions.

SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
---------------------------------------

The length of accepted papers should NOT exceed 4 pages (IEEE-CS
format, extra payment is only available for one more extra page).

It is expected to select about 20-25 regular papers for the workshop,
provided that they meet the technical quality, relevance,
significance, and clarity criteria of the workshop and conference.

Papers selected for acceptance by the TUMAS-A Workshop Topics
section)Program Committee will also be reviewed by the WI/IAT Workshop
Co-Chairs before final acceptance.

Accepted workshop papers will be published in the Proceedings of
WI-IAT08 Workshops by IEEE Computer Society Press, to be indexed by EI.

Selected papers at TUMAS-A workshop will also be invited for a Special
Issue in an International Journal in the field, such as Web Intelligence
and Agent Systems or Journal of Digital information.
