Apart from iRobot's  co-founder, Rodney Brooks being from Adelaide, 
it turns out iRobot has another connection with Australia: its robots 
have been demonstrated armed with the Queensland developed "Metal 
Storm" gun: <http://www.metalstorm.com/content/view/39/107/>.

This gun is electrically fired and has fewer moving parts than a 
conventional weapon, making it me suited to a robot. But for urban 
combat it is overkill (pun intended).

Also the MetalStorm people need to keep in mind that they are just a 
programing change away from breaching the land mine treaty.
