Thinking back to the times before
calculators could be used in exams,
I was struck by the following quote
in an article about Queenwood school
installing voice recognition software
on the 500 school laptops:

    "The NSW Board of Studies is
     exploring the possibility of
     using  computers  in  public
     examinations..."

I wonder this actually means?

Anyway, the story opens with the note
that  with  voice  recognition,  "the
days of aching fingers and sore arms
from scribbling  frantically  to keep
up with a fast-talking teacher are
over"

A future of public exams with log
tables,  slide  rules  and  broadband
internet, perhaps?
