Working from the assumption that governments get thrown out, not 
oppositions voted in....

Howard got in because Australian voters rejected Keating,
Rudd got in because Australian voters rejected  Howard,
Obama got in because American voters rejected the Republicans....

The USA now has an African American president because of all those 
Republican voters who put Bush into the Whitehouse eight years ago.

Considering Republicans voters are less likely to favour African 
Americans, I think it is highly ironic that they now have a black president.

I don't think the USA deliberately chose an African American president, 
although that is the spin now being put on it, even by Bush and the 
Republicans. It's easier on the ego than accepting that the country 
rejected the Republican party.

Just my 2c worth.
