It costs me just under 0.3c a minute (standard skype charge) to call  
any landline in the world, and 100 times this to call any mobile. To  
this, I only have to consider data charges if I am not within wireless  
range (ie, using 3G), and even then, I've yet to use my monthly quota,  
by a country mile.
