Hi all

Education.au is hosting the visit of Professor Uma Kanjilal to Australia in May. She will be in Canberra 11-15 May.

Professor Kanjilal is the Director of the School of Social Sciences at the Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU). The Indira Gandhi Open University provides education services to 1.8 million students in India and 32 other countries and uses ICT and satellite technology to support its teaching programs.

The university is part of a consortium involved in a number of strategic initiatives related to ICT in education including:
§ eGyanKosh: a digital repository of learning resources (www.egyankosh.ac.in<http://www.egyankosh.ac.in>)

§ Sakshat: a one stop education portal (www.sakshat.ac.in<http://www.sakshat.ac.in>)

The visit is funded by the Australia-India Council, University of Canberra and Flinders University and the purpose is for knowledge exchange around ICT in education.

I know some people on the LINK list are interested in ICT in education and I still have a few slots available for meetings with Uma while she is in Canberra. If anyone is interested in meeting with her, please email me off list at - jmillea at educationau.edu.au.

More information about her work can be found at http://www.digitallearning.in/articles/article-details.asp?articleid=1933&typ=COVER%20STORY

Regards, Jen
