Well, I think that there is a lot of value in the brand and that's really what they'll be selling, since the same news will be available from abc.net.au/bbc etc.  Presumably the only added value they will have is in their editorial/commentary - which suggests they will mogrify into daily journals.

I can't see my life changing if smh is not available on line.
