The sticking point for the opposition
seemed to be compensation from the
increased cost due to Carbon Pricing
....this kind of defeats the purpose of
the ETS and a mechanism for reducing
carbon emissions. It is ironic, that Tony
Abbott's seat takes in Sydney's Northern
Beaches - low lying seaside areas that
will be worst affected by climate change
- guess they will be expecting
compensation as their homes go under.

The sticking point for the Greens seems
to be the lack of scientific basis for
allocating the Carbon Permits - the
exclusion of technologies and the
support of cutting down forests and
destroying biodiversity in favour of
plantations.

Both the greens and Senator Joyce
speak fondly of Senator Xenophon's
efforts but don't support his amendments.

Meanwhile - senator fielding and abetz
seem to want a senate enquiry - do they
get paid extra for these?

It will all be recorded here for
posterity see: 24-30 Nov and 1 Dec
