Thank you to everyone who made suggestions as how to sort this out.

FYI, I submitted a complaint to FSO, registered with the DNCR &
registered with Telstra's unwelcome call system.

Having received two more calls yesterday afternoon, I decided to take on
Westpac again, armed with all sorts of threats, my favourite one being
the Commonwealth Crimes act. (Thank you Irene)

This time, the lady I spoke with sorted it out almost immediately - or
at least claimed she had. She contacted their collections people who
unlinked our phone number from the person who they are trying to
contact. Sounds like a reasonable and straightforward thing to do, I
just hope it works.

The strange thing is that when my wife rang Westpac, the person she
spoke with said it couldn't be done.

I'd hate to think it was a case of sexism. Maybe just incompetence on
behalf of the call centre operator. At least the people we talked to
didn't have Indian accents.
