My use of 'social' in the previous discussion related to web 2.0 and the use of online social tools such as facebook and twitter.

I wasn't advocating a "collaborative
meeting technology" more use of a
variety of good Internet Technologies -
email, wiki for drafting and
videoconferencing (high quality) or skype.

Ofcourse, as pubspheres and even link have
shown, there is a difference between
reflective,
informed collaboration and twitter.

You will note that Lotus Notes is not in
the list.... I also think we should move
beyond PDF and Word.

One of the issues is creating that sense of
authenticity/sincerity/authority that a
National
Leader gets in TV footage. Quite often
they
aren't quite so polished off camera.

I'm playing with Google Wave at the
moment (if anyone would like an invite
to check it out, let me know, I have a
handful left). I tried to put in CO2 -
but couldn't find the subscript function
in their wordprocessor - though ofcourse
subscript has been available in HTML for
some years. The ability to integrate
surveys and maps into a document is
interesting.

What puzzles me about the recent concern
about PNG carbon certificates - is how
easy it would be to verify stuff from
satellite imagery.
