On Thursday I travelled from Wentworth Falls to Manly and back. The ticket
I purchased at the railway station covered a day's worth of unlimited
travel on the CityRail network (bounded by Nowra, Goulburn, Lithgow,
Scone, Dungog and Newcastle), all ferries operated by Sydney Ferries, and
almost all government and private buses in and around Sydney.
It was obtained by pressing a single button on the ticket machine and cost
$2.50. It is available to pensioners, holders of a senior's card and also
people on certain welfare benefits.
It seems we already have an integrated transport ticketing system, but
only certain tickets work on it.
I also remember how it was impossible to integrate all the toll roads so
people only had to have one electronic tag.
