I totally agree.

There is a lack of understanding that a meeting permits an interaction 
between multiple parties. It is the real-time interaction that is 
important, not the meeting. If you need rapid interpersonal interaction 
for information gathering or sharing - hold a meeting. Otherwise use 
some other mechanism.

Telephone conferencing can do this quite well, video conferencing adds 
very little.

IMHO.
