I've had at least two in the last year which produced in excess of 10,000 
"bounce" messages. I've now got Mailwasher dumping all "mailer-daemon" and 
"postmaster" messages. I might miss the occasional real bounce, but that's 
a price I'm prepared to pay.

And yes, the Russians have been very busy today.
