David this is called politics, practised over centuries, where politics
means the art of compromise. Today, Nick got the government's attention
and has moved some aspect of the murray-darling basin higher up in its
list of priorities AND in return the government has his support for the
stimulation package.
That's a good outcome, it's what we call a win-win, is it not?
* Government get's what it wants
* xenophon can claim with validity, that he has fought for his
constituency and in support of the platform he was elected on (or at
least stood on)
* the murray-darling basin gets some much needed attention immediately

And I gotta say that as a South Australian watching the murray and lower
lakes die, anything that can get a solution on the way is a really good
thing!
