I was wrong in making this deduction. FB is not attempting to
reassign their user's copyrights to themselves. Rather they are
extending an existing term of use, that states the user grants
them licence to copy their work. Now that term states that the
grant of that licence is for eternity.
I suppose if you disagree with granting them a licence to use your
content, you can forget about using the service ... and life still
goes on.
