I really think the time has come for "information producers" (that is,
everybody on the entire planet) to understand that information flows
and that if it has a use-by date then it needs to be labelled as such
-- but that doesn't make the information vanish.
As I said, anything from a robots.txt to a metatag showing a file's
expiry date or anything else can *always* only be a "polite request
not to use the data" and that of someone has access to the data then
the reality is that they can do whatever they goddam want with it. The
only response is to impose some sort of penalty afterwards if it's
used "wrongly".
