The NYTimes article in question is

They have been mentioned a bit in the US press recently due to claims of
favoritism towards advertisers (which is covered a little in that article).
All up it's a great service which I use frequently, but I do feel for those
that have had incorrect negative reviews posted - on more than one occasion
I've found myself deliberately avoiding specific retailers just as a result
of a few bad reviews on Yelp, but to date I haven't been led wrong by a
positive review on the site - be it for a restraunt, a mechanic, or a
dentist...
