I followed some of this during the Victoria fires. There has been
much assistance ranging from interviews with those in charge in the
various emergency response groups [fire, police, red cross etc.] to
soliciting assistance requests from the public after the fires and
putting them in touch with organisations, businesses, volunteers to
fulfill the request. There were programs of reflection on how things
did or did not work. There were outside broadcasts from the various
areas which I think were still going on this week. They set up an FM
station in King Lake for local support that is on-going.

One of the problems expressed by the on-air people was that they were
getting calls from folks on the ground but they couldn't give out the
information because it wasn't official and could have been incorrect
or even a hoax. It was a real dilemma for them.

I mostly listen in the mornings, so I don't know what the afternoon
or evening programs did. But I'm sure they did the best they could
within their guidelines and ability and what the authorities advised
them to do.

Our truest response to the irrationality of the world is to paint or
sing or write, for only in such response do we find truth.
