You're missing the key point that what you see "on Twitter" is
determined by who you choose to follow -- just as what you experience
"on the telephone" is determined by who you call and who calls you.
But I don't want to compare it to the telephone too much, because the
analogy soon falls apart and ultimately end up missing the key
differences of things like Twitter.
If Twitter doesn't "bring anything to your table" (or, conversely, if
you have nothing to bring to the table via Twitter) then don't use it.
Twitter doesn't actually make any sense if you just look at it from
the outside. I reckon that you have to start using it and explore it
before there's the penny-drop moment. And I reckon that happens when
there's maybe 50 people in your network.
