Perhaps I'm missing something obvious here, but...

Yes, a reasonable percentage of it will be cable - but why does that give
you a sick feeling in your stomach?

The fastest ADSL I can get in my apartment (San Francisco Bay area) is 6Mbps
down.  The slowest cable I can get is 12Mbps down - and if I feel like
paying for it I could get up to 50Mbps.
