Over time, packaging for Apple products has slimmed significantly, not  
just because people complained, but because smaller and more-efficient  
packaging meant more products per pallet, and more products able to be  
shipped for the same cost. http://www.apple.com/environment/ offers  
some interesting facts combined with data on transport costs and  
recycling etc as part of the whole product life cycle. Much more  
important than simply the packaging.
