creating an etext version of a book is trivial. to me, the more
interesting questions centre around what extensions or additions to text
will make digital representations *more* than just the book, on an
electrically-powered device - how can/should 'ebooks' take advantage of
the platform and do/be more than just representations of the physical
object.

the fundamental elements of this approach are not new, though this looks
like a fun (and useful) application of them. i'm interested in having
this - i have so much of my own work on paper that would be much more
useful to me if i could search it ...
i doubt it'll fly as a iphone applet (for example) unless apple are cool
with having ibooks dying a sudden death as publishers throw a dummy-spit.
the sky is falling in! copyright! sales! aargh!
does anyone have figures for baen publishers?
