Wow, I don't think you've captured the nuances of what's really going
on there at all.
I bet if you did some tests involving what I can only coin as
"information attention", I bet a little digging will find studies which
explore the effect that presentation has on information storage,
processing and retrieval. And I bet it's not trivial. :-)
Maybe some graphic designers can and do take things a little too far.
But a blanket statement of "reads want to read information" absolutely
doesn't do it justice.
