New Windows update bluescreening PCs

The latest batch of Windows Updates are causing problems for some users
resulting in blue-screens and panic.
Not only do we have the Windows 7 security trouble this week, but also
one of the fixes in the latest batch of Microsoft Windows Updates is
causing some (mostly Windows XP, but some Windows 7) users the sizeable
headache of a blue screen error and the inability to boot into Windows.
The killer is that to fix the problem, you need access to a Windows
Installation CD.
If you do have one, then the fix is explained (below) .. it requires use
of the recovery console and some batch commands - how nostalgic! .. and
has been approved by a Microsoft tech.

If you don't have an install disc, or no drive as most netbook owners,
then you'll need to start badgering Microsoft for help.
According to Computerworld, the patch in question is the one that fixes
the 17-year old vulnerability discovered by Google staff a few weeks ago.
Perhaps, it was better left alone?
While the angry shouts of those stuck without a computer are getting
louder it is interesting to see this problem has garnered less comments
than the Windows 7 security feature mentioned earlier..
