That's not an accurate translation.
While you may not need linux knowledge,
you would need to know something about
Networks and Security, if you are
setting up a firewall.

Ofcourse, many routers are already
running linux, but I would guess the
objective here is to reuse an old or 
standard
computer/netbook.
