Re this point and also the choice for telephony, I believe the case 
to be as you state now; but with the addition of NBN, there is the 
possibility for competition, which we *don't* have now (excepting the 
use of VOIP alternatives that go down either the copper or the HFC 
for a LOT cheaper than the cost of Telstra calls).

The addition of NBN is what increases the competition IF the existing 
systems were allowed to continue, which it seems they won't be under 
the current planning. Why should Auntie Maud be required to change? 
Will it still be plug and work with current phones? What happens in 
power outages (our current phones continue to work)? Not everyone 
wants Internet, believe it or not. :-)

thread yet)
