It is worth noting that published media files, unlike text 
files, are already compressed - zipping won't reduce their 
size. However, packaging webpages (ie text/images) for 
offline use would be useful - perhaps like a print function 
of the browser. This could possibly encourage more people to 
use HTML in preference to Word/PDF.

Though the real problem is that the media formats are not 
going to be compatible with all browsers/readers - Firefox 
is building in Ogg/Theora/Vorbis while the closed source 
camp is supporting the licensed MPEG formats.
