A lot of the population is that way, and always will be.  You're 
getting taken in by the upbeat, techno-hip environment you operate 
it.  (Sorry the adjectives are so 80s and 90s).

Or I could try it within that segment's own terms:  in an era when 
people are increasingly time-poor, they want to interact with the 
people they want to interact with, not the cretins who populate the 
direct marketing world.
