Every year, the American vehicle makers sell FAR more light trucks, quite
often used as suburban run-abouts, than they sell normal cars. It's very
good to read Yanks intend going-on doing their bit conserving fossil fuel:

Ford has confirmed that the 2011 model of its F-150 SVT Raptor truck
would become a bit more outrageous. The standard 5.4-liter V-8 will be
replaced by the future 411-horsepower 6.2-liter engine. In addition, the
new truck will be a four-door SuperCrew cab as compared with the existing
current Raptor which is equipped with an extended two-door body.

The F-150 SVT Raptor truck’s 6.2-liter engine is a single-overhead-
camshaft design ... The company described the upcoming vehicle as the
most powerful half-ton pickup truck on the market ..

The 2011 Dodge Durango from Chrysler has just been unveiled. The new
model has three rows of seating for those with larger families .. and a
(more powerful) 5.7 liter V8 HEMI engine .. There’s been nothing released
from Chrysler about fuel-economy estimates.
