Not quite.

If a movie is copied the opportunity to sell a licence to that movie still 
exists. In fact a sale may becomes more likely if seeing the copied version 
means you would want to licence it.

Most of the money I have spent on games is purchasing games the kids have got 
copies of which I have liked so I purchase them. After purchasing I usually 
prefer to play the pirated copies as they have the DRM cracked.

But certainly having a copy of the game has not stolen the oportunity to sell 
a licence of the game to me.

Try again, what has been stolen?
