Not too sure about the power consumption, but I do know about the
picture quality - I haven't seen an LCD yet which looks as good as a
decent CRT. I'm staying in a house now with a Sony thing which seems
to be stuck on 'bad acid' mode. Whenever there's movement on the
screen the image distorts. And the colour rendition, contrast and
definition are just terrible. I'd say, if you see a newish CRT
(especially a widescreen one) in a garage sale for $50, buy it quick -
it'll most probably outperform $2000 worth of flat screen, although it
will use up a lot more real estate.
