I repeat: it may be a difference in where you live.
If you live in a place that has generation capacity problems when a
dense population turns on their new split aircon systems on a hot
night instead of opening a window, you'll have power outages or brown
outs. But if you live in an area with above-ground poles, frequent
storms and lightning strikes, those things cause outages. This
reminds me of an earlier thread about putting the right
infrastructure in for the right environment.
