Very few people know who to call when they suspect a scam. It's often
only *after* someone has been stung that they finally track down someone
to tell (other than A Current Affair, of course o.O)

ACCC is one place to go, as are the various State business and consumer
affairs bodies.

For a while, my mobile number was not in the DoNotCall register list -
and I have started receiving odd calls at odd times of the day from
'blocked' numbers. I don't usually pick up, and they never leave
messages. On the very few occasions when I have picked up, the caller
either hangs up, or I get a few seconds of blank airtime (not silent so
much as no obvious sound).
