Producing the paperback, from the EPUB (HTML) source, has been an
interesting experience.

The eBook included hyperlinks to references and additional information on
the Web. Though I hear not all e-book readers provide a good browser. As I
understand it, the difference between an e-book and webpage is that an
e-book is read offline - hence the need to package all the relevant
webpages and images.

In the end, I have included more pictures and text in the paperback, than I
did in the eBook. I have now also provided links to images and maps of the
period, on the book page, such as the NLA's 1890 and 1900 Plan of
Annandale. <http://ramin.com.au/walks/1890s-short-walk.shtml>

Last Friday, I gave a lightning talk at SLUG about using Open Office Master
Document to create a PDF from HTML source, that can be reused for the
eBook. Anyone else attempting this, may be interested in my slide/webpage
cheat sheet on HTML<>Open Office at:

The previous month I gave a talk on formatting an E-Book in the EPUB format
- the Slide/cheatsheet for that is at
