How about an option to pay for the use of the music in videos posted on YouTube? I'd much prefer to pay for the use of the music and not have it polluted with advertising. Indeed, that's exactly what I do know whenever I can find a venue to make that payment. But that usually eliminates the use of any current popular releases which is a shame. 

It seems to me that the authors and distributors are chopping off their own noses here.
