My conclusion about the article is that it didn't convince me one way or the
other that FB is dying. In other words, the journalist had a piece to write
and this is the best he came up with. The comments below that article
confirm that Facebook is simply a reflection of a cross-section of society.
There are people with different values and expectations from others. Some
are bogans; some are boring; some are well-educated and some don't like FB
for one reason or another, so are not to be found there.
I read somewhere that there are over 300,000 Justin Biebers on FB, which is
a hint that there are many fake profiles. Try to create an ad (without
getting to the payment stage) and you will be able to count the number of
users by various criteria. You'd be surprised to see the large number of
Australian teens 13-17 who claim to be married. FB needs these large numbers
to look good for the IPO, but after that date they might clean up the robot
accounts.
