[LINK] Maintaining the link list

Hi Linkers,

Aye from me for The Three Amigos.

Link has been the most interesting and civilised list I've been on for
my time on the Internet. I joined up in ... 94? 95? and still enjoy
lurking and occasionally posting a rant or two.

The ratio of informative content to noise far surpasses anything else I
participate in, except perhaps SLUG ;)

Because email is so much easier. It just plain works.

That said, I notice the many of my younger contacts on the net have
replaced email with social networking. All good, and perhaps the
"in way" to communicate these days. And many of these refuse to
talk email anymore. I *must* login to Facebook just to reply to
a message. A royal PITA for a busy netizen.

ONE email feed is so handy and quick. I can see every list I
subscribe to using one non-bloated email reader. As well, email
lists archive well and can be easily searched. YMMV with fora
in this regards. Besides, aren't listservers much lower overhead,
maintenance and headaches than running fora on webservers? I think so.

Having to log into a different forum or social net site for each list
in which you wish to participate is time consuming and a big PITA.

IMHO, nothing beats a plaintext (NO HTML) email feed.

cheers
