It needs good upstream if you intend to upload existing documents from
your machine to Google Docs for editing.

Good upstream is critical for "cloud" (or fog) computing....

If you have a 10 Mbit connection but your upstream is just 256 Kbps,
then for cloud computing purposes, your bandwidth is 256K...
