I'd also like to promote the idea that as a matter of civic duty
everyone maintains a pigeon coop and trains their birds up with regular
flights.  Unfortunately, there's still a risk that a malevolent
government might work out how to muck up the earth's magnetic field
producing skies full of bewildered birds but we'd still be able to fall
back to face-to-face phonated information transmission.
