Outside Braidwood (NSW Southern Highlands), I remember overhead 'phone 
lines in the 1950s. As far as I know, they were all underground in that 
area by 1960.

Does anyone know when the last overhead telecom's copper was retired? 
Just how much of a Great Leap Backward is the NBN's overhead cabling?
