I forgot to say that I loved Sun under Scott McNealy. Not so much
under Schwartz...
And their x86 hardware was lovely. I own Sun's first x86 AMD Opteron
box, the Java Workstation (w1100z), it's a workhorse still to this day
with little design details (in the way the case opens, in the way the
HDs can be removed without a screwdriver, etc) that make it a work of
art.
Too bad the models that came after the w1100z and w2100z were designed
by industrial engineers rather than artists.

PS: speaking of Sun, if someone on this list perhaps has a spare copy
of Sun Bandwidth Manager for Solaris x86, please let me know off-list.
I think Oracle now sells it but included in expensive hardware, not
stand-alone. A guy from Sun FedEx'ed me it for an article I was
working on, four years ago, and I managed to lose the CD, only have
now the empty fedex box and his emails. He has since left the
company... I'd be interested in obtaining it.
