At one point Thompson appeared to contradict himself on the reasons 
for those cancellations.  And, when asked, he was unsure whether he'd 
said 20,000 per day or per week.  He was reading from lines someone 
had given him.  He frankly doesn't have a clue.  So it's difficult to 
work out what the statements he made would actually mean, even if he 
uttered them the way he was supposed to.  One of the benefits of 
sending a vague 'ambassador' type to speak on your behalf is that you 
achieve plausible deniability.

(I'm being rude about Mozelle Thompson, but he was a dork when he was 
an FTC Commissioner, and dorks stay that way).
