"Nonsense", as a counter-argument, really doesn't cut it.

Hm. Since they are generally just lead-acid technology, he would
presumably have the same issue with an ordinary FFV today. Which is
entirely possible - batteries are indeed pretty toxic. Like petrol and
antifreeze.

There are other battery types, and as far as I know all have been
deployed in other common-or-garden roles. There's a molten electrolytic
salt technology around that is completely non-toxic, I seem to recall.

They could hardly become *more* common. Our cities are full of them.
Sadly there are very few EVs out there competing with them yet.
