Mention that Telstra's Viatel service, a Videotex system, was derived 
from the British Prestel service in 1985:

I recall setting up some pages on Viatel for the Australian Computer 
Society around 1987. I wonder if they are archived anywhere?

Always quick with any technology to speed up betting, the WATAB provided 
a home betting system using Viatel. I suspect you will find other 
examples of early eCommercie from the TABs:
