I got the same message, and it was formatted in HTML with no apparent irony.
There is a disconnect between marketers, who wish to control all elements
of customers viewing their message, and the recipients who detest
pointless, stupid emails like this one and the bloated multi-media
'marketing communications'.
I also note Fairfax unilaterally made the same change a year or so ago.
As long as the marketers are happy for their customers to think them
idiots, and willing to have fewer people read their messages, it will
continue.
That said, Qantas' days are numbered in any case, IMHO.
