Couldn't have said it better, Frank. Oh, except you left out the ones
about the touchiness of the card readers (press, don't rub), the
delay of application of your credit to the card, the stoppage of
top-up if your credit card number changes and no notice to you of the
fact so you could be left stranded or found to be fare evading, the
increase in fare evasion on trams, the delays in getting off trams
because of the 'touch off' requirement (or get charged for the full
day price), and cards that stop working and have to be POSTED back to
the company, leaving you to buy a second card so you can travel.

It is bad for occasional users and visitors, but spare a thought for
the people who live here and have to put up with it all the time!

I was going to say something about drifting toward Tasmania, but that
would be way over the top insulting to Tasmania more than it being funny.

Welcome to Melbourne, Karl.

Our truest response to the irrationality of the world is to paint or
sing or write, for only in such response do we find truth.
