You elected to whack a private message reply into the public domain, Thomas Peter ... I do hope you remember that in the near future.

Very generous of you Tomas Peter ... 105 eh?
And you keep referring to me as a journalist .... not for many many years Chief, and even then only as a tyro.

And excellent exposition of the bleeding obvious.

Up until comparatively recently probably only 10% of the population of this benighted planet had ever tasted a carrot ... were were limited by geography and climate in what was available. Where you lived pretty much governed what you ate.
But .... with the exception of a very few foods (eg. dairy food for the lactose intolerant) human beings are amazingly able to indulge in foodstuffs from around the world with little or no complications. Our digestive system is sufficiently rigorous and hardy enough to adapt to all manner of foodstuff and sustenance, as you'd expect in an opportunistic omnivore. In fact if it comes from eukaryiotic cells and their byproducts (that’s the complex ones rather than the single celled anaerobic variety, Tom) we can pretty much ingest it.
And we have pretty neat natural defence mechanisms against poisons and spoiled food as well ... our senses protect us at the first level (smell, taste etc), our internal biology at the second level (reactions to to stuff that's not good for us range from vomiting, to temperature rises, to fevers, to stomach aches, to other physical reactions) to our ability to share and remember adverse experience at the third level.
In short ... we're made to pretty well eat and devour anything, to checkout and try different foods and subsist on any number of energy sources that our digestive systems can handle. And I'd go even further than that ... we can eat and imbibe poisonous concentrations of certain substances (sugars, salts, high concentrate food acids etc etc) .... gorge on them if you like .... and our bodies have evolved ways and means of dealing with said poisons so that the otherwise poisonous excesses are naturally dissipated.

And according to you your stomach is a vector for DNS transfer? Viruses, I can accept, even antibodies and injected chemicals I can accept .... but all the research indicates that what is processed by the digestive system is pretty safe. In short if it doesn't kill you when you eat it, then it won't. What goes in is simply rendered/filtered to ingredients/chemical/substances that the body can use and filtered out at various points in the alimentary canal ... and the waste - well, we all know what happens to the waste.

As I said in the original missive, equating growth hormones (and those foul antibiotics that intensive farming uses) with GMO is like associating child molestation with homosexuality. There is no connection.
For the record ... and for the last time ... I agree that growth hormones and and the like are bad.
I even agree that GM foods need to be controlled big-time for the other three reasons I gave you .... that you elected to delete from this public reply.

Rats die, We die, Aardvarks die. Nematodes die. The question is was that death attributable to eating and digesting GM product ... and I've seen no studies that has suggested that it did. You keep making these damn statements but fail to back them up with tested validated research.
Is this another bug bear of yours .... or are you just trying to go with your past theory that all science eis a conspiracy with you as the victim?

Good to know .... you keep hanging in there with the quantity versus quality tactic, Tom ... it works for the Tea Party, it works fro other fringe loons and conspiracy theorists ... so maybe it will work for you.
